Guatemala, Inspire the Fire: Student Immersion and Retreat
Join Jennifer Campbell-Overbeeke E-RYT, HHC for a deep dive into yoga, ayurveda and sacred ritual in one of the worlds most sought after retreat destinations: Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. Come rejuvenate your practice and inspire your life under the care of a seasoned teacher and the sacred energy of Lago de Atitlán!
Lake Atitlán is believed by the Maya to be the center of the universe where God’s seeds of mankind evolved. A land where all the elements exist (from sacred waters to the dormant fires of three volcanos) in dramatic grandeur, Atitlán is second to none in the grace and magnitude of it’s energetic presence. People come from far and wide to experience the transformative effects of the “land of eternal spring.”
Villa Sumaya, our home for 7 days, is a pearl among the landscape. Voted for years as one of the top retreat spots in the world Sumaya translates to “a long awaited dream come true” in Sanskrit and “a little piece of paradise” in Arabic. Stepping off the boat onto the dock for the first time confirms this message. It is a home for many, a place felt as if it’s always been there in our hearts.
Included in this retreat immersion will be twice daily yoga practice, 3 hours of practicum each day with rotating topics (from ayurveda to pranayama), night time mantra and meditation and time each day to explore the lake’s natural beauty, relax and rejuvenate. In the middle of the week we will be guided through an ancient mayan fire ceremony with an authentic Tz’utujil Spiritual Guide,. Please feel free to bring anything you would like to have purified or blessed during this ceremony.
This retreat is part immersion and is suitable for teachers and dedicated students alike. Come to re-inspire your practice and/or your teaching for the year to come!
